Beat of the City is a representation of Philadelphia's heartbeat through sound-waves. The skyline reacts to sound as it would have a life of its own.
The system maps sound data to visual elements representing the heart-beat of the city responding to the urban voice.
This particular video is a recording of an interaction between graphics and music, where the line movement is triggered by actual sound data. Presence of a sound sensor would turn the system into an interactive experience.
This animation was featured at PECO's Crown Light display in November and December 2012.
